With my comical heroes of Sid Field, Frank Randel, Laurel and Hardy, Les Dawson, Larry Grayson, Morecambe and Wise, Peter Sellers, The Goons , Frank Spencer, Frankie Howerd and of course Sir Ken Dodd as influences, I have tried to bring a love of comic character into my act... as well as my dress sense!
After writing comedy for Ken Dodd since 1987 I thought it was about time to stand up and be counted (one!)
It’s not what you say it’s how you say it. Getting the audience to trust you so that they know you won’t offend or embarrass them. Just be a little cheeky round the edges.
But... how to describe my act? Well, a kind of Dickensian whimsicality, with voices attached.
Writing Credits
From 1987 I wrote comedy for Ken Dodd and became a member of the 'Comedy Writers of Great Britain' for a number of years.
I have proudly written material for:
The Ken Dodd Green Radio Show
Naked Video
Noel Edmonds Late Late Breakfast Show
An Audience with Ken Dodd (one and two)
Ken Dodd's live theatre shows.
I wrote and directed my own show 'The House of Whimsy', a stand up / music and sketch show in the old style for a family audience which toured in 2008.
I've also written and directed 'Snow White', an open air summer Pantomime for Morecambe’s Happy Mount park in 2006 (and I gave myself a good acting part I can tell you! One of the perks of the job).
